This summer, Mission Impossible 7 will be my fifth trip to Ukraine. When wondering on what to right about in this essay, a question stayed in my mind. Why am I going to Ukraine? I immediately thought about why I went in the past again and again. I loved Ukraine for the people, the country, the culture, and even the traveling. Also, I wished to go to Ukraine to strengthen the relationships I had made on past trips. I soon realized that there were other reasons than only my personal desires. I knew that God wanted for me to serve him in Ukraine. I knew this through his Word and also in my heart that I am supposed to go to Ukraine this summer.

1. The Traveling
From the moment I first set foot on a plane, I knew that flying was for me. I did not know if it was only the idea of traveling or the actual trip that caused for me to get this feeling that is indescribable. I believe it is also the sensation of simply traveling to another country.

2. The Country
I remember clearly the first time I took a bus ride from Kiev to Cherkasy. For much of the ride I would simply stare out at the large countryside laid before me. There is a certain connection between people and the beauty of nature. Our own family has always enjoyed visiting the mountains for the beauty that God has created for us to enjoy. I could see the beauty that God had put in Ukraine. Whether I saw crops, grass, or the famous sunflowers, I was constantly in amazement of God’s handiwork.

3. The Culture
In the past years of traveling to Ukraine, I have had many different experiences. The most direct experiences being the new culture I was thrust into. From the first time I traveled to Ukraine its beauty has captivated me. I fell in love with the language and the openness of the people there.

4. The People
Each time that I have been to Ukraine, the friends that we have made there have opened their homes and their hearts to us. There is great openness among the people of Ukraine. I am thankful to the families that have in the past opened up their homes to allow for some Americans to rest in. Despite the fact that we spoke no Ukrainian, these families sacrificed their privacy for two weeks. I am grateful for their sacrifice that they made to keep us comfortable while in Ukraine.

5. The Friendships
One of my personal desires for going back to Ukraine is to revisit the friends that I had made in the past years. It is always good to know friends that are fellow Christians. Thankfully, I have made many friends in the past years in Ukraine. I cannot wait until I can return to Ukraine.

6. The Sharing of God’s Word
I am thankful to the Lord for allowing myself to become a Christian at an early age. I know that because of accepting God into my life, I can share eternal life with him in heaven. Sadly, there are so many that are still lost in the world without a bit of guidance. I hope to share with others the Good News that I have been shared, so that they too may have the gift of eternal life.

7. God’s Push
I could feel that God was pushing me to go on this trip. I knew God’s Covenant and that I should obey it as he commands. This verse spoke to me, and caused me to know why I must obey God’s covenant. Psalm 25:8-11 “Good and upright is the LORD; therefore He instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble His way. All the paths of the LORD are loving and faithful, for those kept within the commands of His covenant.” By obeying God’s Covenant I can only gain. Participating in Mission Impossible 7 is the way God wants for me to take part in his Covenant, this summer.
